Rise Origin Story
Welcome to Rise Academy, founded by Felicia Smith, certified dyslexia therapist and dedicated mother. What started as a small initiative in her Sherman, TX dining room in 2018 after leaving public education, has blossomed into a nurturing educational environment for students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and ADHD as well as gifted and ASD 1. Now Rise encompasses Felicia’s own children and their learning needs as well as those in the communities that surround Rise locations. At Rise, we embrace an untraditional approach to learning, allowing time for creativity, play, and exploration to foster connections to learning and our community. With locations in Denison, TX, and Jupiter Farms FL, we are committed to fostering a unique educational journey that honors the magic of childhood. Rise TX and FL holds the offering of Rise School, the summer offering of The Growth Cycle, and one on one student learning sessions.
Felicia Smith
Felicia and her family go between TX and FL as the seasons change and continue to develop and grow Rise as well as their own family. Felicia holds a deep love for her TX community where she was raised and where Rise began. Florida is where she spent many summers vacationing with her family growing up and now takes her children to play in the ocean. Behind the scenes, Stephen builds the furniture and rearranges it countless times, and renovates the schoolhouses as needed. Tori, Koa, and Mila continue to inspire the evolution of Rise and are the best guides for what children want in learning.
